About The Artist:

Nkosazahna Scott (B. 2002) is an artist born and working in London. Central to her work is an exploration of personal history, capturing the essence of the places that she navigates. Her artistic journey is a continuous exploration of identity, light, and the ever-evolving nature of the spaces that we call our own.

Nkosazahna began her practice primarily with oil paints, translating observations into art based on her photography. However, her practice has expanded to include rust painting and cyanotype printing as her primary mediums. These techniques have become integral to Nkosazahna’s practice, allowing her to create works that capture the transient and fragile nature of her surroundings. Cyanotype, with its deep Prussian blue, echoes the scrambled sentiments of joy, sadness, and celebration found in her subjects. She strives to capture the beauty in everyday objects and moments, often incorporating soft, blurred aesthetics reminiscent of early photographic negatives.

Ultimately, Nkosazahna’s art is a testament to the evolving nature of identity and our profound connection with the spaces we inhabit. Each creation captures her personal history and the resilient spirits within her ordinary yet extraordinary environments, inviting viewers to reflect on their own experiences of home, family, and identity.
